    I bought one used, the previous owner disclosed 2 places that had been patched. I used the pump sack to inflate. Took a long time to do indoors with no wind. I flapped open the sack trying to trap as much air then blew one big breath into it and trapped it shut. I’d say it took 40+ repetitions of this to blow it up. Toward the end I just used my mouth and blew 4 big breaths into it to finish up. Testing it ahead of a 4 day backpacking trip coming up.

    Wer schreibt und wirbt denn bitte mit dem Temperatur Limit? Niemand kauft einen Schlfsack aufgrund des Extrem Limits...Aber so klingt es natürlich viel geiler wenn der Sack bis -18° runter geht. Das man da dann schon an der Überlebensgrenze hängt, keine Auge mehr zu macht und wartet dass die Nacht vorbei geht ist ja egal. Hauptsache -18°

    • @ThermaRest
      @ThermaRest 7 месяцев назад

      Good question! The ProLite Apex is slightly thicker (about a half inch) and has a different fabric. The cut of the interior foam is also slightly different. Together these things add to the Apex having a slightly higher R value.

    I just got this mattress two days ago and I thought the valve on the stuff sack had turned to stone possibly cuz it was sitting on the shelf for a long time. But after reading the comments below I found out it's made like that. Best thing is to get a battery operated pump and keep the stuff sack as a secondary backup.

    Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XTherm Leaks out the WingLock Valve /// I got a new one and does the same! slow leak.. Test your Valve by using a bowl or pool or anything that you can get the Valve underwater, test closed and open and see if your mat does leak before you go on the trail.. I even pop the top off and i was surprised it does not seat down to the rubber gasket! This would be easy fix for them, they just need the inside of the cap to have the round plastic under the cap to set more into the Tube around the rubber seal.. I do love this mat! But i wont ever use it on Hiking trip ever! I hope none of you have this same problem, no way to stop the leak, when it not coming from the mat it self.

    is it possible to blow up the neo air xlite nxt with the mouth without mold creating in the pad and without reduced isolation because of moisture going in the pad?

    • @NathanHassall
      @NathanHassall 4 месяца назад

      you would need to pass your breath through a portable dehumidifying ion filtration system (PDIFS)... this can be done but its not cheap and its not lightweight. Its also not available without a license and its only available to scientists and it can be dangerous not mention poisonous and ethically irresponsible since the chemicals used to make it are harmful to the environment and never break down.

    • @edmundoa1935
      @edmundoa1935 4 месяца назад

      The reduced isolation is not noticeable unless you are at extreme temperatures and the humidity creates ice crystals (this is not an air pad for that weather in any case). About the mold, if worried, use your air pump but many people (myself included) inflated air pads with the mouth for so many years without noticing anything! There are mold spores and humidity in nature anyways, which maybe inserted by a pump, nothing to be worried about. I use a pump because it is easier more than safer. If you decide to save the weight, I bet you will do it for so many years that when you retire your pad will be for any reason other than "mold". Please tell us in a few years if you could create a moldy pad, will be interesting.

    my extreme disappointment and frustration with the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir® Micro Pump that I recently purchased. I regret to inform you that the product has not met my expectations and has left me feeling utterly dissatisfied. Upon purchasing the NeoAir® Micro Pump, I had high hopes for its performance as an air pump for my Therm-a-Rest mattress. However, my experience has been nothing short of frustrating. Despite following the instructions meticulously and dedicating a significant amount of time and effort, I was unable to fill the mattress with air even after an hour of continuous pumping. I am appalled that a reputed company like Therm-a-Rest would release such a subpar product onto the market. It is disheartening to see that the air pump, which is an essential component of the NeoAir® Micro Pump, does not function as advertised. The fact that the pump fails to deliver the basic functionality for which it was designed is deeply disappointing.

    • @santoshpariyar3191
      @santoshpariyar3191 Год назад

      Moreover, I find it astonishing that Therm-a-Rest continues to sell this product at such a high price point, despite its evident flaws. I expected better from a company of your stature, and it is disconcerting to see that these issues have not been addressed or rectified in subsequent iterations of the product.

Honestly, go with your gut and buy whichever you better like, only using them you will know for sure which one is more ideal for you. Both are excellent, you are not missing the great determinator. If really in doubt, buy the mummy at REI or other reputable store and if you don't love it, exchange it for the glorious (sorry, it is my preference) MAX.
